The ChronyW Guarantee: 2-Year Warranty on All Movements

Water Resistance Guide & Policy

At ChronyW, we want your timepiece to last a lifetime. Understanding the water resistance of your watch is crucial to preventing accidental damage. Please note that "Water Resistant" does not mean "Waterproof."

Below are our official guidelines and policies regarding water exposure.

1. Water Resistance Ratings (The ChronyW Standard)

Water resistance is measured in ATM (Atmospheres). Please follow this chart strictly to ensure your warranty remains valid:

Rating

Suitability

Limitation

3 ATM (30m/100ft)

Accidental splashes, rain, hand washing.

Do NOT submerge or wear while showering.

5 ATM (50m/165ft)

Short periods of swimming in shallow water.

Do NOT use for snorkeling or water sports.

10 ATM (100m/330ft)

Swimming, snorkeling, and poolside diving.

Do NOT use for high-speed water sports or deep diving.

20 ATM+ (200m+)

Professional marine activity and skin diving.

Suitable for most water activities except deep-sea diving.

2. The "Golden Rules" of Water Safety

To maintain the integrity of your watch, you must adhere to the following:

  • Never push or pull the crown/buttons while the watch is wet or underwater.

  • Screw-down Crowns: If your watch has a screw-down crown, it must be fully tightened to ensure a water-tight seal.

  • Avoid Hot Water: High temperatures (saunas, hot tubs, or hot showers) can cause metal parts to expand differently than rubber gaskets, leading to seal failure. Steam damage is not covered under warranty.

  • Chemical Exposure: Saltwater, chlorine, and perfumes can corrode gaskets over time. Always rinse your watch with fresh water after swimming.

3. Periodic Maintenance

Water resistance is not a permanent state. Gaskets and seals dry out and lose their effectiveness over time.

  • ChronyW recommends a Water Resistance Test every 12 to 24 months, especially before a vacation involving water activities.

  • For watches used frequently in water, we recommend an annual seal replacement.

4. Warranty Limitation Regarding Water Damage

The ChronyW Limited Warranty does not cover water damage if:

  1. The watch was used beyond its rated ATM capacity (e.g., wearing a 3 ATM watch while swimming).

  2. The crown was left unscrewed or pulled out during contact with water.

  3. The watch shows signs of exposure to extreme heat (saunas/hot baths).

  4. The watch was opened or repaired by a third party not authorized by ChronyW.

5. Support

If you notice condensation under the glass (fogging), please contact us immediately at (405) 274-0460 or email info@chronyw.com. Water trapped inside a movement can cause oxidation within hours.
